Independence is a great word to reinforce with your children. I use it instead of words such as chores or work. There is nothing wrong with those words, however they often conjure up a negative emotion. Independence makes a child feel older, respected, trusted, and frankly- independent. They don't want you nagging them just as much as you don't want to nag them. Here is my darling cousin's son's afternoon "Minecraft" ritual. Tailor your goody token sytem to your child. Make it fun for both of you! Need ideas? Email me :)
