RECENT POSTS:
In an effort to encourage positive behavior in my children, I came up with a "positive" reward system. I've discovered, not only has it had a lasting impact on my children, it's made parenting so much easier for me. Friends and family are now following suit and having their own success stories. Here's a space for anyone out there looking for a way to raise responsible children without feeling exhausted from repeating the same verbiage over and over...
I grew up with my mom "nagging" us to do everything from brush your teeth, do your homework, pick up your room, put your dishes in the sink...
Sound familiar?
I knew I didn't want to be that parent. It is exhasting and I can recall, as a kid, it wasn't fun on that end either. This is a parenting lifestyle and may take a few months to figure out how to tailor it to your own family. Some parents I know took off running with it and have had immediate success, others took a little longer before it became habit.
Results depend on the age of your child, your child's personailty, and patterns/habits that may have already formed over the years.
Either way, be easy on yourself. You got this!
This is fun. This is freedom. This is how I approached my kids and I recommend the same for yours.
WHO AM I ?

(PRINT AND POST THIS LIST- in their rooms, next to backpacks, bathrooms, wherever makes sense for their tasks at hand)
2. Create a "redemption chart"
ie: ipad 30 minutes- 12 tokens
One 30 minute age appropriate show- 15 tokens...
(PRINT AND POST- print and keep next to your jar of tokens (now coined the "token bank" by my children)
3. Create an "Alternate Ways to Earn Tokens" List
ie: Postive attitude
Honest
Polite
Brave
Respectful....
(PRINT AND POST- we have ours next to the Redemtion Chart)
4. Give your child a clear container to store their earned tokens.
We use clear glass jars. Have fun with it. Your child can decorate and participate in setting this "game" up or setting their "independence" up. However you want to word it- so long as it's fun and creates a positive feeling.
